White spot disease
White spot is caused by Ichtyophthirius multifiliis, belonging to the Ciliate Protozoans or Ciliate. They derive their name from the hundreds of cilia that completely or partially cover these single-celled organisms. This disease usually occurs when the natural resistance of fish is reduced or compromised. Examples of such circumstances include transportation overcrowding, water changes or the addition of new fish. Affected fish show white spots on their skin, 0,1 to 1 mm in size. These spots can be separate or clustered. The fish chafe their skin on plants or rocks and sometimes ‘rock’ back and for in the water. After loss of the use of their (breathing) skin – surface or when the gills are affected, shortness or breath sets in and eventually the fish will die.
Fungus
Fungal Infection (most caused by Saprolegnia) can be recognised by the appearance of greyish white, cotton-like growths on the skin and/or gills.
Instructions for use
Read the complete manual carefully before use. Dosage: 40 ml per 1.000 litres of pond water. Apply half the dosage when both the pH is lower than 7 and at the same time the water temperature is above 15°C, or when there are sensitive fish in the pond, like Orfe, Tench and Sturgeon. If necessary, repeat the treatment after 1 week. For prevention: For 3 consequentive days, 10 ml per 1.000 litres of pond water.
Warning
Only for use on ornamental pond fish. Keep out of reach of children. Store in the box, dry and dark at a temperature of 4 to 32°C. Do not inhale. Prevent contact with the skin and eyes. If swallowed, immediately consult a physician and show package or label. This product causes permanent stains on clothing, paving materials, etc. For UK: This veterinary medicine is marketed in accordance with Schedule 6 of the Veterinay Medicines Regulations – Exemption for small pet animals.
