SuperFish Hollow Bio Beads are a biological filter media with a unique and innovative design: a porous hollow bead with a biological cavity inside.
This provides a double action filtration:
1) Optimal aerobic filtration through the porous bead with a specific surface area of over 500 m² per litre. The high oxygen content in the filter media ensures optimal nitrification resulting in detoxification of ammonia and nitrite.
2) The biological cavity inside the bead has a low accessibility for water and oxygen, allowing anaerobic denitrification (breakdown of nitrate). SuperFish Hollow Bio Beads reduce nitrate levels, helping to limit nuisance algae growth.
Suitable for freshwater and saltwater aquariums. SuperFish Hollow Bio Beats are washable and reusable, which significantly reduces aquarium maintenance. Always rinse thoroughly with warm water before usage.
